About SHIFT MKE

Every morning, SHIFT MKE reads the official records of the Common Council, the County Board, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Maps come from the agency in charge of each one. Explainers list their sources at the bottom. News picks link to the original story; SHIFT does not do its own reporting.

SHIFT MKE finds items by keywords, so it can miss one or include one that doesn't belong. Items are placed on the map from the addresses in them. Plain-language titles are rearranged from the official title, which always shows underneath with a link to the official record.

SHIFT MKE takes no money: no ads, donations, or sponsors. If that changes, this page will say who gives.

Questions, tips, and corrections go to hello@shiftmke.com. If something here is wrong, say so and it gets fixed. Corrections are noted on the piece, not quietly edited out. Students are welcome to write in.
